Why You and Your Kids Should Learn French

By 2050, French is slated to be the number one most spoken language in the world. I know it seems unbelievable, but it is absolutely true.  Look it up. So, if you or your kids have any desire to be relevant, socially, economically and globally, French is where you want to be. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. It sets you apart, and differentiates you from everyone else.
At his time in America, you can throw a stone and hit someone who speaks Spanish (or someone from a Spanish-spewing country for that matter).  But, who wants to be like everyone else? Speaking French makes you available for things that are not open to the “normals.”  Like, jobs around the world.
French is the common language in many countries outside of the US.
  2. It sounds really cool. Need I say more?
  3. It makes you smarter.  Learning languages is like music. It activates brain centers that stimulate memory and intellect. So if you want to be the smartest person in the room...
  4. It makes you more attractive to the opposite sex.  (you’re welcome)  How many times have you run into someone that starts speaking French, and your insides get a little, warm.  Yeah, so there's that.  I think we're done here.
  5. It instills confidence.  #beastmode
  6. Makes it easier to travel globally.
  7. Helps you learn other romance languages.  They all kind of intertwine.  Once you learn french, you have a more discerning ear to italian, spanish, etc.  #beastmodeagain
  8. It positions you better for jobs.  Talk about marketable!  You want to be the only one who can travel to certain countries because you speak the language?  How about guaranteed paycheck!
  9. It’s a great ice-breaker. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been somewhere and it’s come up in conversation that I speak French, and conversation has opened up. The waters have literally parted.  More personal and professional doors have opened up because of it.
